Interesting Facts about New York City

Many people consider New York City to be a very exciting and amazing city to be in. Its said that a lot of people from Paris and London have issues accepting this. New York city is considered to be one of the most amazing cities in the world. One of the facts that make New York city a great city is that it has a rich history and its many personalities who dwell here. So what do New Yorkers think about this?

* Seventy percent believe that New York city is an awesome place to live in while sixty eight percent believe that New York has improved significantly in the last few years.
* Sixty percent of New Yorkers think that their city is safe & that the police protection is quite ok.
* Twenty percent of the New Yorkers live in substandard houses while fourteen percent live in an overcrowded areas.
* Twenty eight percent of New Yorkers have finished college.
* Seventy five percent believe that they are healthy and 75% have finished school.
* Seventeen percent have families with a worth (assets, etc) of $100,000 or more but a sad forty one percent did not report any net worth. About twenty five percent of the people of New York own houses..this is not suprising since New York is famous as a city of people that rent.
* Believe it or not, 31% live below the poverty line. Like in many cities around the world, their is a great divide between the haves and the havenots in the City of New York, as 6% of New Yorkers have incomes that are at least 10 times the poverty line. Two percent of the people of New York are having it rough to the extent that they turn off their gas in order to save some money and that 7% go hungry cause they are not able to afford food.
* Another 33% live with one or more family member that don't have access to health insurance.
* Lastly, about 80% of the people that live in New York feel safe in their Neighborhood
